Director at Institute of arts of contemporary - Shaanxi (plan and handle art events in Paris, Beijing and Xian).

During his childhood, he was initiated in the art of traditional painting by his elder brother Fan CHEN.

He attended primary school in Xian then went to college of Xian.

Between 1976 to 1979, he was sent to the countryside as an «educated young person».

Between 1979 to 1982, he worked in a factory.

Between 1982 to 1986, Qian CHEN studied at the department of studies in Oil painting at the CHINA XI'AN ACADEMY OF FINE ARTS, under the supervision of Chen Beixin - he graduated in July 1986.

Between 1986 to 1999, Qian CHEN taught at the department of drawing and industry of art at the University of Xian and gave lectures on art to the teachers of the University Jiaotong of Xian, capital of Shaanxi.

Since 1987, he is President of the association for the Oil painting of Xian, and since 1997, he is Secretary - general of the association for the Oil painting of the province of Shaanxi.

Between 1990 and 1997, Qian CHEN directed restoration and decoration work directly or through the company Decoration Zheng - Ye of Xian which he created in 1995, in particular Qian CHEN directed work of decoration of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Xian, Store of the People of Xian, Company of pharmaceutical products, Center of the Chinese of Overseas of Xian and finally of the Laboratory of the University of Xian.

Between 1998 -1999, Qian CHEN was responsible for the department of draftsmanship of the provincial University of Xian.

In 1999, he was invited by the department of Eastern studies of Università Cà Foscari Di Venezia in Italy to take part in a conference with Magda Abbratr on Chinese contemporary art.

In 1999, he and families have visited France, Italy, Vatican, Austria, Germany, Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg etc countries and museums and galleries.

Since 2000, he is a member of the «Maison des Artistes».

In 2004, he worked with the Association «Atelier Du Passage».

In 2006, he worked in an art studio at Levallois Pereire.

Since 2007, he lives and works in the "cheng" studio.

In 2008, he visits the United States of America.

In 2009, he visits the Britain ( National Gallery and the National Portrait Gallery; the Modern Tate and Britain Tate; Royal Academy of Arts and Burlington House Piccadilly; the British Museum; the British Library; such as the University College London etc ).

In 2009, March to July he lives and works at an art studio in New York.

In 2010, Paris; Peking.

In 2008: Be awarded the honorary title of master of Chinese art (Ministry of Culture of the People's Republic of China).
